Do You Remember?

Do you remember what life was like when you were younger when you played outside? Do you remember your parents telling you stories of their childhood? Do you feel that as each generation comes, society gets more liberal and we all become more disconnected with each other?

Children now are glued to their video games instead of going outside and playing ball with their neighbors. When you go to a restaurant you see a mom texting and her 5 year old son on his iPad. We have lost respect, love and tradition ever since technology came out.

It has been good. Computers are good, iPads are good but so many people today are materialistic. They do not have the right priorities. They think that just because they own something expensive it makes them feel good. It might for a little while but it cannot give you the same feeling as unconditional love. Loving someone else or having children or husband or a wife to come home to after work.

We all forgot in today’s society how to give and take because we have this “what about me?” or “I want it,” mentality.”

Coronavirus Pandemic

In December of 2019 the Coronavirus outbreak official began in Wuhan, China. What the Coronavirus is, it is flu like symptoms and if someone sneezes or coughs on you then you can catch it. How do you know you have the Coronavirus? Sneezing, coughing, fatigue, shortness of breath. It is very serious and there is no cure for it yet. Health officials are warning everyone to stay inside, wash your hands, wear gloves and masks. According to Fox News “According to the CDC, coronaviruses are common in camels, cattle, cats and bats. Person-to-person transmissions are thought to occur when an infected person coughs or sneezes, similar to how influenza and other respiratory pathogens spread,” (https://www.foxnews.com/health/coronavirus-everything-you-need-to-know).

In March 2020 little by little schools started closing, restaurants and bars. Stores now have shortened hours and some businesses are on lock down until the Quarantine is over.

Parents are going to be home schooling their children. College kids will be doing their work online. Some people have to work at home while others got laid off.

It is a crucial time for most people. Most people are having trouble remaining grounded that this whole Quarantine will pass. They are in agony that it will go on forever. They have self- limiting beliefs of the Coronavirus will go on forever also. Yes, we hit a hard fall but like anything else we have to dust ourselves off and get back up. It won’t be easy but life is a roller coaster there are ups and there are downs. You just have to keep focusing on that light at the end of tunnel and not let yourself drown to the darkness around you. If you take the proper precautions, not overspend, wash your hands, stay indoors etc. you will be fine. In life nothing is set in stone. Don’t worry about 6 months from now. Take each day and enjoy it. Someone always has it worse than you.

Will the world be a better place once we come out of Quarantine?

The final question is will the world be a better place once we finally come out of Quarantine? Since people stopped going to bars until 4:00am will there be more solid and stable relationships? Since people cannot have guilty pleasures such as overspending, going to the spa, cheating, etc. will introspection happen?

Will people use self-isolation wisely and use this time to mediate and work on themselves? Will they take a look at themselves and see their flaws and what needs to be fixed? There is good and bad in everyone but so many people tend to blame the other person. Maybe social distancing is not such a bad thing. Maybe it can give us all a chance to reflect on our past relationships, past friendships, our family life, our behavioral patterns.

Will we come out of this and apologize to the people we hurt? Will we stop putting more value on things materialistic goods instead of what really matters? Will we learn to treat people with love, kindness and respect? Will we be able to be stick to one person in a relationship instead of talking to numerous people when we are in a commitment? Will there be more give and take?

Only time will tell and it depends on the person. There is the Id, the Ego, and the Superego. Everyone is born with a conscience No one is all good or all bad. Everyone makes mistakes and some people make more mistakes than others and go down a spiral case of mistakes but at anytime they can choose to be a better person.

It’s up to the person to be the person they want to be and if they want to be better themselves of not it’s on them.
